It's a machine part, they had to be able to attach motorized hinges to it to seal doors on both sides. To open the front door opens first while the back door is closed, to keep water flow from putting pressure on the opening door, then the back door be opened in the direction of the ocean water flowing to the corium. Then to close the front door closes first in the direction of the water flow on the corium and the back door closes once the front door is sealed shut under the pressure of the ocean water. They apparently also nixed the shaft the Nuke Fuel fell through, other wise there would have been steam billowing from the dysfunctional nuke plant also. My guess is they have a door there too where they can vent the corium up through the building. So they have a controlled nuclear meltdown raging under Fukushima, that they're slowly killing the world with that they have the capacity to contain and access, but is making it's way to the Earth's mantle at which point it's going to burst magma up from it as it falls to being lost in the mantle, inaccessible. Then it'd make Geothermal Energy toxic. Volcanic eruptions will be nuclear radioactive. Damn these people sinister.
